Kolkata, the center of Jute
In 2022, TheCottonBag Company started producing in Kolkata. This region in the East of India is known as the center of Jute.
The city of Kolkata counts many highly-educated inhabitants who make a major contribution to the production of our more sophisticated jute bags.
This branch in Kolkata is provided with an in-house printing system, a curing machine and a large storage area for the printed bags.
In addition, we have our own research & development department in Kolkata, that continuously investigates the possibilities of new materials and new, more sustainable production methods. For example, we strive to continuously optimize the ultramodern production process that is already in place.
The Kolkata factory in numbers
At its Kolkata facility, TheCottonBag Company produces no less than 500,000 personalized jute bags per month. In addition, we produce 2 million cotton and canvas bags every month. The 200 employees contribute on a daily basis to the production of:
- Fair trade bags
- Canvas bags and colored bags (dyed bags)
- Bags in jute, juco & recycled cotton
- High-quality bags with buckles, zippers…
Guaranteed quality
Each bag is thoroughly checked in our factories before being packed.
East India is a humid region, which poses a challenge for our bags. That is why we put each bag through a curing machine. They are then stored in a temperature room to maintain their excellent quality.
